Re: object is holow (boat part) and s3d print it solid

My first guess would be a problem with the mesh, but there's also settings that can cause this. Can you post the factory file (File > Save Factory File)?

for e.g. looking at the bow http://www.thingiverse.com/download:1469705 this is a solid part (not to mention mesh is not ok but..)

Re: object is holow (boat part) and s3d print it solid

Your factory-file:

You can't print this objekt hollow, you need the infill to print the upper region of the cover.

It's better to turn the object (part of a boatshull?) upright, so it stands on the flat part. This position may be printed hollow.

Doubleclick on the object, change rotation (y -90°) an than in menue Edit > Drop object to table

Raft to zero

Infill to zero

Support to zero

Re: object is holow (boat part) and s3d print it solid

.....or orient the part as suggested by horst.w and print as suggested by the originator on Thingiverse....using vase mode.

But I wouldn't take my own advice.....as vase mode would end up with the part being too weak and possible not watertight. ;)

that stl is again with errors, first load it in netfabb or meshlab and fix errors
second, that stl is not hollow. there's room for "ppl" but the tip of the hull is solid.

the maker of the object suggests you print as "vase" .. you will get a single perimeter only, the strength of the object will be questionable, I suggest the largest nozzle and biggest layer height you can muster with extrusion increased to max that looks ok i order to get shell that's strong enough. also I suggest ABS and acetone bath to make it watertight, without acetone bath I doubt it will be watertight, after acetone bath it most probably will work ok, just don't overdo it.
