Printing a horizontally segmented dual material part

So I'm printing a fairly simple cylindrical model, where the top 10mm of a 35mm high model is in a different color. I've partitioned the STLs in Netfabb, and they are correctly loaded in Simplify3D, in the right position.

It's easy to set this up in Simplify3D using the dual extruder wizard, but even with ooze shields turned on, etc there is some marking from the second color. (It's black and red so the contrast is pretty noticeable).

Ideally I'd like to print the lower 25mm in one color with the second extruder turned off, then basically start another job with the second extruder, and the first extruder turned off.

One way to do this would be to program a pause and switch filament, but since I have a perfectly calibrated dual extruder setup, I'd rather do that.

I can see how the sequential mode for working with multiple processes can get me part of the way there, but I need to disable homing for the second part of the print.

So to recap:
* Print the first part (color) of the model
* Move extruder away from the part
* Cool the first extruder
* Heat the second extruder
* Print the second part of the model (on top of the first part)

Any thoughts on how to do this?

Re: Printing a horizontally segmented dual material part

If you use their built-in sequential printing, then you just create one process for each color. When you click Prepare to Print you can select both processes and choose sequential printing with whatever clearance height you have (enter 999 if you think you can fully print one model before moving to the other and not crash into it with anything)

So that's the easiest way to do it. It automatically handles the scripts and everything, but you will have both extruders heated for the entire print. Perhaps there's a way to set a temperature setpoint in the second process to turn off the unused extruder..
