Re: Better feedback on feature requests posted here....

?! 42 pages with feature requests I would not call that silence :D ... not in the slightest!

anyhow I don't think the "is the app developed", "when is the new release coming" and similar topics are of much use to anyone .. development ain't simple, and since s3d didn't decide to go open-source the "other" side of it is that "releasing often" with "small changes" is not that viable option due to all the q&a that has to be done for each release (I could only image thy crybabies if a release went south)...

to be honest I have more issues navigating this forum then I have with the s3d app, so far I'm so freaking happy with it I can't explain .. now I did jump from 5yo image based skein to s3d mostly skipping the slic3r, cura, kslicer, axon... so maybe I'd be as happy with any of them too (i did use them, each of them, for few months, but nothing close to skeinforge) ... and imo that's one part of the equation that could easily be solved :D .. 3 major issues I see for e.g.
1. - I can't find anything when I'm looking for it (I do find it later and feel stupid), this probably has nothing to do with forum but I'm getting old
2. - it properly marks threads with new posts but when I click on it I get to a beginning of the thread, then need to figure out what's new. this should be easy to fix most modern forums work ok with this (or I'm stupid and there's a place I should click to get to the new one)
3. - voting system .. get a list of features and let ppl vote on which ones are "important" to them giving way more info to both devs and users what's the real status of each feature (going trough thread counting +1's is not really something I'd call optimal)

and again - silence...
In this case I must suggest that the greatest silence has been from users of this forum.
There doesn't seem to be any point in posting any feature requests here when there is zero feedback from the developers. It just seems they don't care at all about the community.

Re: Better feedback on feature requests posted here....

I have to agree with some of the complaints on this thread. There are a number of real easy to do things that I get ZERO feedback on even though I post the feature requests over and over again. Zero feedback. Bad form. Time to talk about it on the podcast. Maybe then S3D will get the message.

I do find it quite shocking that the s3d team hardly ever chip in with any discussions. Even the free 'one man' outfits like Repetier and Octaprint you can expect a reply form the developer within 24 hours.
If there is apathy from the users on this forum its because they realize quickly that its mostly a waste of time and they don't bother to check in often.
A reply within a day from someone on the team could re-energize this deserted forum and both users and developers could start helping each other.

The S3D guys have posted about this quite a few times, but they have multiple people reading this forum every single day. I've emailed with them plenty of times, and it's very clear that their developers are constantly reading what's posted here and using the info here to determine what features to work on next. From what I've been told, they use the feature requests and bug reports section quite a bit.

They do have a full time support team that you can contact if you need to talk to them directly. I've always gotten a reply in a day or less: https://www.simplify3d.com/contact-us/

But back to the topic, I think this thread in particular was setup to try to brainstorm possible ways to improve the forum to track things like which feature requests are the most popular, bugs that have been fixed, things that are currently being worked on, things like that.
