Re: Version3.1.1 Any improvements from requests?

I will happily pay for each major version upgrade. I already pay upgrade or subscription fees for my CAD software, so why not for the other major component of the tool chain. PROVIDED, Simplify3D is continuing to push the boundaries of what we can do with FDM 3D printing.

Re: Version3.1.1 Any improvements from requests?

The context of my comment was that the developer has already got money from an existing customer...so that customer no longer has the same importance as a new customer.

And I do take your point re some potential new users reading up on reviews before purchasing. But not every potential customer reads every review before purchasing...and not every existing customer is looking for the software to be in continual development.

Woa.... I'm not arguing here. I just passed an observational comment.

And I don't discuss things with anyone who starts using bad language....even if words have letters changed so they "are not swear words"!

I ended up uninstalling the new version. Aside from support issues it has started to crash consistently.

Had to go back a version to get a print to run.

For info, I'm running fine on 3.1.1.

The only difference I've noticed so far is the version number.

Same here. I guess there is a difference regarding language selection, but as I'm not using anything other than English, I haven't noticed any difference. And I have sliced and printed a small number of models from the new version already.

Re: Version3.1.1 Any improvements from requests?

The new version started out ok until I noticed an issue with supports. It was adding supports where nothing was printing. Odd but not to harmful and they only printed for a layer or so.
But, yesterday it started crashing so I went back to the last version and it is working ok.
Looking at what has changed there is nothing that is a benefit that I see for me other than dense support stuff but I don't use it yet anyway. So I will stay with 3.1.0 for now and see if I can test 3.1.1 more on another machine. Maybe just an odd combination caused issues.
For now I am getting ready to test Slic3r since a modified version is coming with my new printer so I need to get used to it!

Re: Version3.1.1 Any improvements from requests?

I have two things that I've noticed in functionality - one only because support mentioned it. Again, you kind of have to read through the marketing-speak for the release notes.
  • Greatly improved dense support structure processing for complex models
So, sometimes with complicated models, Simplify3D would hang or take forever (effectively hang) if you had "too many" dense support layers. In my case, "too many" was 3. Now it seems to work on the same model that I had trouble with before, so that's at least part of this bullet point.
  • Improved post-processing script performance
The {STRIP ";"} command in the CubePro profile was the cause of a few headaches for me because it would hang up on larger prints and have no trouble on smaller prints. I wrote a script to handle it outside of Simplify3D, but now it works fine in 3.1.1.

From what I can see there is no improvements from the requested features.

Just multiple extrusion advanced support and a bunch of new printers.

How about the thin walls infills?
What about the non relative printing speeds?
And a lot of other major requests for a long time now.
Nothing worth mentioning.
They don't care about existing customers, only getting new customers.
