Special characters in gcode crashed my print (3.1.1)

Hey all!

I've been fighting print quality issues for the last week or so and today it hit a climax with a print that failed midway, heat stayed on, and the machine just froze with special characters on the LCD (NOT like reprap 'heiroglyphics', these were different.) Inspecting the gcode, I found a huge block of random special characters in the middle of the print (starting on line 50040.) I'm not sure if this is related to version 3.1.1, but for now I'm reverting back to 3.1.0 to see if it helps my other issues.

I've attached the factory file and a sample of the gcode it generated (full gcode is too large.) Thoughts?

Thanks for any help or advice you all might bring to the table.

Re: Special characters in gcode crashed my print (3.1.1)

I loaded the factory file you posted in 3.1.1 and sliced it, and wasn't able to find any weird characters in the gcode. So I doubt it's an issue with 3.1.1. Seems more likely that there was a problem writing that specific file on your computer. I've seen similar problems before with other programs if something interrupts the write operation, like the SD card intermittently disconnecting during the save. SD cards can be pretty finicky, so I'd think that is a much more likely cause.
