need more retraction???

layers - .1mm
speed - 1200 mm/min
temps - 200/95
nozzle - .4mm

do i need more retraction???
more retraction speed???
i get awesome results when print is completed so do i need to really worry about them???
any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Re: need more retraction???

The hairs are pointing upwards because you have vertical lift enabled. So the nozzle retracts and then moves upwards. You could try increasing the retraction distance like you said, but if the prints look good at the end, then I would probably just keep it as is ;)

It looks like you are overextruding or the nozzle is just too close to the bed. While looking closer at the print, I can see the plastic forming those hills along the toolpath. Also other features are smudged.

Re: need more retraction???

Retraction Restart, go to -0,10 (negative)
Speed, 1200 mm/min are 20 mm/s, thats to slow, go to 40 mm/s the filament melts perhaps too much
Lift, 0,20 mm are sufficient
NO Wipe!

Temperature??? I'm wondering that 200 ° is going for ABS. Normaly I would say minimum 225 / 230 up to 240 and more. Do you mean PLA?

The restart of retract is very tricky! You need it, but for long distances more and for short distances fewer just down to zero. You must test it out.
The retraction itself must cause that the filament rest without tension. 4 mm for a bowden extruder seems not enough. You can messure it when the extruder is cold. Open the extruder, press by hand as fast as possible an mark the filament with an edding. Than let it go and mark the position an other time. The distance between the 2 marks is what you need for Retraction.
A direct extruder has values like 1 up to max 2 mm .
If the retract distance is too short, there is is enough tension to keep extruding while traveling.

Re: need more retraction???

thanks for replies
i did raise ABS temps 235/100. even though prints came out nice, i noticed it looked more 'rigid' than melted. i may just have been lucky it was sticking together. after raise temps, i noticed it flowed better and also smoother
i lowered lift to .3 and sped up print speed. that seemed to help a whole lot.
prints are smooth looking, don't see each line individually but more blended and shiny. i just have slight webbing in between close parts but i can clean that

i am still learning how to manipulate everything but right now i am very satisfied and may not change anything...much
attached photo of chess pieces i downloaded and making.
i open to suggestions, if can see picture good enough
