Default Printing Speed for the da Vinci Mini w

Hi Everyone,

I recently got S3D and have been using it with my da Vinci Mini w. I have been making some tweaks to the profile to get better results (print adhesion, etc.)

One thing I noticed is that S3D seems to print the exact same object at a faster rate than when I use the XYZWare slicer that comes with the da Vinci. The XYZWare (despite its limitations) sometimes yields a better print. The S3D profile has the default printing speed at 3000 mm/min. I was thinking of slowing that down to get better print results. Does anyone know a recommended default print speed for the Mini? I guess I should just experiment, but I thought I would ask.

Thanks!

Re: Default Printing Speed for the da Vinci Mini w

Hi Steve
I have an xyz 1.0 and 2.0 and although they print much faster, it was not slowing them down that improved things for me. It was increasing the retractions. All the blobs on the surface of the prints disappeared. If that is your problem. A smoother surface was had by increasing the temperature. That being said I am printing nylon at 1000 which is much slower than yours. It is also much quieter at that speed with less stress on your printer. I PRINT ABS AT 3000. Which is much slower than either s3d or xyzware originally printed. But I have found that talmans alloy 910 nylon makes such good parts I rarely print in anything else. 8100psi tensile strength= 80% of mild steel. The small parts I tried to make out of abs just broke. The nylon sticks better to the glass also. You just have to be able to print at 245 degrees.
