Support not fully covering overhangs

I am having trouble with supports not fully covering an overhang. I have tried overhang angle settings down to 40 degrees and resolution down to 1.0 and still get the gap at the end of this overhang. It is mirrored on both sides of the part. Any ideas of a setting that could be changed to fix that? Or is the only way to add manual supports to the unsupported areas?

Re: Support not fully covering overhangs

Use the "extra inflation distance" setting on the support tab if you need to grow the supports a big more. Setting that to 0.5mm or something in that range should be plenty.

Re: Support not fully covering overhangs

I had this problem to, but it took a lot larger setting to correct it, currently i have it set to 1.60 and that just reaches the edges of all overhangs enough to prevent issues, at least with the overhangs, i still have other issues to solve with S3D not working right.

You can change the setting then click prepare to print and the preview will show you if the support is out to the edges or not, if its not go back and change it and then go to the preview again.

Re: Support not fully covering overhangs

Thank you for the reply. What was shown in the part preview is not what showed up in the g code preview. After hitting prepare to print, the supports ran out to the end of the overhang. But that setting is nice to know in case I have this problem again.
