Remove "Lasso" for Supports

Hi All,

I've read some of the past supports threads, but think this is worth asking still. I'm open to alternatives or better ways of using the existing software if you have them!

I typically print helmets and masks. I tend to not care about the inside faces, so I don't want supports generated. But, I DO want supports around the outside surface and eye holes typically.

What I am currently doing, is auto-generating supports, at say, 4mm, >50* in normal mode.

Then, I have to go through an manually delete the large chunk of 'internal' supports that generate under the large head cap overhang.

Keeping the question / feature request short - can you add a lasso type tool that will let me delete a bunch of supports over a selected area?

Again, I'm open to "you're doing it wrong" response completely!

I would probably just change the support type to "from build platform only". That way you don't get any of the internal supports that you can't remove from the outside.

They show this in the video here around the 3 minute mark:

Some sort of method for clearing support other than poking them one at a time would be welcome - being able to drag through an area, for example - or a selection rectangle.

Thanks Brian, but this happens ever with that option. I tend to print helmets a quarter hemisphere at a time, so no matter what, it's going to add a ton of supports I don't want.

Maybe it would help if you added a screenshot showing the supports you get and the ones you don't want

Re: Remove "Lasso" for Supports

Good idea, I just took some to show:

These are two side pieces of a helmet. I don't care how anything on the inside of the helmet looks, as long as the edges print true so I can glue or friction weld them together, and the part itself prints. the first image shows a bottom shot of the generated supports, and I am mid-way through click-removing some of them. The second shot is typical of what I want to end up with, I am supporting only the outer edges so they fit nicely together with their mating parts.

Its unlikely you'll get one. There's never been a comment on any other request.

Hi Jimmy,

This is a good request, and I know we've had others users request similar things before. Our team reads every single post on the forum, so if you ever post something here, you can be assured we have seen it!

We'll be sure to review this to see if it is possible for future releases

Regards

Thanks for the reply Jason. Glad to hear I'm not out of left field with this feature request.

Is there any way to track what features are being worked on for the next version?
