Nozzle Swap

So I am looking to do a nozzle swap from .4 to .8

Other than changing the Nozzle Diameter setting in S3D are there any other changes required?

I.e. Extrusion Multiplier or Extrusion width, etc?

Re: Nozzle Swap

You will need to do a complete recalibration using the larger nozzle. Almost all of the settings will be different.

Re: Nozzle Swap

Depending on the printer it could be pretty close just changing the numbers. The only way to tell is to print something and see then make adjustments.

I don't print calibration cubes much any more. If you are using a .8 nozzle then most likely you aren't looking for size precision and detail much.

Re: Nozzle Swap

I've switched nozzles a few times on mine, and all I had to do was change the nozzle diameter on the Extruders tab. I already had the extrusion width set to auto, so that changed automatically.

Re: Nozzle Swap

Okay. maybe not every single setting. :)
But at least the major ones. The nozzle size of course. Then the extrusion multiplier most likely and the width. Retraction almost certainly as well as retraction speed. Layer height temperature possibly. Cooling possibly. Print speed too. Bridging. Those are the main ones I had to change when I switched to the .8 mm from the .4 mm on the Craftbot Plus.
All of it really depends on what you are looking to achieve with the larger nozzle as mentioned.

Re: Nozzle Swap

So the most basic setting that needs to be changed is Nozzle size and Extrusion width

But as Leeway said, You may have to run a few calibration prints to adjust settings like retraction, print speed sometimes even the temperature. All these are required to control the quality of the prints. When you are going to a bigger size, I am sure you have to battle with oozing as well.
