Re: First Layer Speed setting

Okay, but at 50% speed it should have a bigger change in colour.
And in all honesty, it looks like its printing just as fast as the upper layers.

When I print with a raft, it is ALOT slower.

Shoudn't the first layer of the skirt print, and the raft print at the same speed?
I think the speed difference you are seeing there is the "Support Structure Underspeed" set at 80%

Anyways, I'm playing with the z axis offset like you recommened. Hopefully it helps.

Re: First Layer Speed setting

Instead of trying to guess based on the colors, just open the gcode file and look at the F-values. That will tell you the exact speed it us using.

I also ran some tests and the first layer speed is working exactly as I would expect, both with and without a raft. It always alters the very first layer printed on the bed.

Re: First Layer Speed setting

Well I have'nt looked at the gcode, I wouldn't know what I was looking at.
But I've tried printing and it definitely is not going at 50%, it looks the same speed as full speed.

But I did find this:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4011&hilit=first+la ... d&start=10

Could it be the firmware, like described in the linked thread? I don't have a Makerbot, I have a Flashforge.
I think they run on the same firmware, don't they?
