Please help to add support settings

We love this object, but unfortunately, we need to place supports in the face area. Are there any recommended settings to decrease the damage to the face? We use Original Prusa i3 MK2.

I don't know your printer, but I think your problem ist only to solve by using of water-soluble support and therefore you need a dual-head printer.

If not, it rests only the posibility to turn the model so that the face is upside or print only separate parts and glue them together.

What about "Dense Support Layers" setting option? Will it decrease damage to the face?

Re: Please help to add support settings

You don't use this and also SeparationsLayers??? Than you must learn a lot because that is basic knowledge. If you are beginner, avoid to print such a complicate model.

Whats the model, ThingIvers? Please attache it here or a link to the source.

To test out the different possibilities you can sink down the model into the virtual table; it will be print only the part above the table.
For all - sink down /lift, turn, scale - dobbleclick to the model.

What CAD-program do you use?
I have ViaCAD and I'm able to split an importet STL in any way and re-export the new parts as multi STL's to print them optimal.

Re: Please help to add support settings

It is a 3D scanned model from Scan The World on MyMiniFactory https://www.myminifactory.com/object/tw ... mbat-23491

Not sure how to use separation layers. We are going to try this support setting in our next print.

We added a little to "Extra Inflation Distance" (0.5mm)
And 4 "Dense Support Layers"

Please read this first: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2135

The automatical support of S3D is not optimal, I suggest to try the manuell support and play with the values of the columns.

Dense will build a column with a head like a mushroom. More dense layers so the head will be width.
You need ultimativ the vertical SeparationLayers 3 or 4, you must try out.
The horizontal distance must be >0,5, so that the columns do not touch the model.
