Supports bleed through to inside of part.

Hi,

I have supports on the outside of this part but they are bleeding through to the inside. I have 1.8mm of inflation so the supports will actually be under the complete areas I need (another issue). If I reduce the inflation the ionside cleans up but then the supports do not cover half the area they are needed at on the outside. I am not able to attache the factory since it is a customers property. I'll do my best to answer any questions. Thanks.

This curiosity occures sometimes when I manually attache the support . But my experiences, it is only an optical issue of the preview. Even when the little bit inside would be printed, the structure of the body (perimeters, infill) is not changed.

I can flip it to auto supports under the manual support section then I can remove these parts.

Really can't run it to see if they actually print or not. At this point it is 25 hours into the print. If I sink the part into the bed to only print the top section then the whole support structure changes so that doesn't work.

If I reduce the inflation it goes away but I need the inflation to get the supports out past the outer edges of the part for proper printing.
If I increase the distance of the support from the part it also goes away but that leaves the inner section of the overhangs unsupported!

I will keep fiddling with it to see if I can find something out.

You might want to try using a smaller support pillar resolution. Try 1 or 2mm.

I was thinking the same thing. I will give it a try and see how that goes.

Surely the preview will show if any support is going to print on the inside of your part!

I can't recall this ever happening to me......but I'm sure that support on the inside would come off as easily as support on the outside. And for the benefit of any readers....what I refer to as "inside" is inside a hollow part....not inside the structure of a shape. I hate it when there are two meanings for a phrase! :roll:

My conclusion is they will print based on another part that did a similar thing. On that one the "supports" that had bled through like this were very hard to remove since they printed more like blobs and fused to the surface. They ended up looking more like Z scarring.

Having similar issue from time to time.
Can post pics if necessary. Curious why no solution was posted for others to see.

happens from time to time, even with highest resolution 1mm for support .. it does print and messes up the part :( .. when noticed in time it's not a big deal to remove support, reposition etc.. but when not noticed in time can be expensive :(
