I am using two processes to print. After the first process the extruder begins an obvious under-extrusion. In the startup script in process 1 and process 2 I have had to added the following line:
M92 E140 M500
Thus adjusting the esteps to 140. When the second process starts it acts as if the esteps have reverted to 100. Is there something I can add to the second process to get it to set to E140?
Btw, I have verified that all relevant settings between the two processes are identical (layer height, speed, nozzle size, extrusion multiplier, and etc.
But isn't over extrusion not what you want? Because if you increase the Steps per unit with the M92 command you basically do the same.
Can you post some images of you problem?
Also " M500" I think must be in the next line if you want it to store in the EEPROM. And normally you do this only once and not every print. Because after M500 the parameter is stored in the EEPROM
That may be the problem! If the M500 is not storing the esteps in the eeprom, then perhaps they are not being saved going to the next process.
To answer your question, process1 is printing perfectly with the settings as is. Different filaments require different extrusion multipliers. Because I have replaced the factory extruder on my Raise3D N2 with a BondTec extruder, I had to account for the reduced gearing and that means adjusting the esteps to 140. That must stay constant, but the extruder multiplier can vary from 1.0 to as little as 0.85 in my experience. However, it stays fixed for the filament being used. So given that process1 is printing perfectly then I have to locate what is stopping it from printing perfectly once process2 starts. Adjusting the multiplier is like trying to handle a symptom rather than the problem. It just so happens that I have seen the under-extrusion that comes from not setting M92 E140 and it looks just like my print. So that is why I asked the question the way I did.
So, I'm looking for what would keep process2 from using esteps of 140. M500 being in the wrong place may be the reason.

So the answer is that the M500 needed to be on a new line. With that in place, esteps stayed at the E140 I set them to in the first process. Thank yo for the input and help.
