Random extrusion issue

Hi

I recently bought S3d after using Cura for some time on my Cocoon Touch (Wanhao i3 PLus clone), and have started seeing some strange issues.

Image

The print is fine for the majority of the time but then the starts underextrude. Inside out is selected under layers but some of them are starting on the outermost skin. I've been watching the toolpath and it looks like a some of the layers dont start properly. The issue looks almsot random and my retraction settings are tuned properly for all successful layers.

Ive cleaned out the extruder but it hasnt removed all of the artifacts.

Has anyone seen this before? what else can I try?

Re: Random extrusion issue

try this, make a new profile, with all the info of the one you are using now. see if the behavior changes. We have been experiencing random things like this in my printing group.

Re: Random extrusion issue

I see random extrusion problems a lot if I'm using bad filament or if the nozzle has a partial clog. So I would guess it's one of those 2 things.

Also possible there's a problem with the filament feed (too much friction preventing the filament from feeding easily, drive gear tension, etc)
