Blobs on top ONLY

When printing this test pyramid tower: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2219103/#comments

I get this: Image

Not a string on the print until that, right at the end of the print.

Thats not an object for using by beginners!

The groundplate of the object is 20 x 8 mm, therefore I guess the ground square of the towers 2 x 2 mm. That is realy difficult to print.

Mainly it's a problem of retract and restart also as a problem of kind of material, speed, temperature and the printer itself.

I've been printing for a long time. This blob only shows up in simplify 3d, and only at the the top layers.

If you really want some help here, why don't you attach a factory file so someone can look at your settings and suggest changes. File menu....save factory file.

Personally, I think you're printing either too hot or too fast.....or both. With no idea what you're settings are, I'm stabbing in the dark!

May be, but without any experiences concerning S3D-settings !

I repeat:

Simplify3D needs always explicite settings while Cura is a near half-automatical slicer that works very well for standard models

I am TRYING to figure out what in the retraction and restart will cause this. That's why I am asking here. In case you didn't realize the model was designed to test these settings. I have changed a LOT of retract and restart settings but I cannot get this to stop.
Do you have some insight as to what you would change first? Speed of print does nothing related to the blobs. Temperature does nothing either.

There's an echo in here.....

I didn't see this post earlier. I will post the files.
Almost no difference in any of these printing.

Re: Blobs on top ONLY

Attached your retraction2-file as correction - first try! PLA is not my favorite

First you need the exact messure of your filament with a micrometerscrew. 1.75 mm is often +/- 5 %
the multiplier value begins with 0.95 and is variable depending of the true diameter of the filament.

Then begin testprints with a cube, a really usual cube of 20 x 20 mm. If you realise a spledid print than you are perhaps able to print your towers.

There are a lot of dependences to you material AND your printer you must find out.

More to learn read here:

I guess you have a direct-extruder (not bowden ???) , because your retract was only 0.8 mm. If NOT, then 4 - 5 mm is right.
It needs to bring out by pulling back all pressure out of the melting chamber.

Your unusual high temperature of 215 / 200 -depending to a slow speed - (PLA 190 - 210, optimum you must find out!) cause a escape of molten filament after the pressure is zero. Therefore you must give a negative (!!!) value to Retract-Extra-Restart, you must lift the nozzle to have a proper new beginning of print on the next tower. No wipe and No Coast at end!

I think your adjustment of printing speed down to 5 % (Cooling) is very contraproductive, but you must find it out.
