Printing stops before part is complete

Help! My Monoprice MP Select Mini has bee acting up. Before I installed Simplify 3d, about every 5th print, the printer would stop before the part had finished. Most of the time it appears that the nozzle adhered to the part and everything just stopped moving. Now that I've purchase the Spimplify 3d, the rafts and supports are awesome and have fixed my problem with irregular shaped objects not sticking well to the bed but now EVERY print I've tried dies before it's finished. Can anyone help me figure out why? I read the FAQ's and none of the 4 scenarios seem to be the problem.
Thanks!

I'm not sure what 4 scenarios you mean on the FAQ but it sounds like it's a USB interruption (at least that's what was happening to me).

Even if you're printing off an SD card you need to have the USB port that's connected to the printer be active for the entirety of the print. You will have to check power settings in windows to stop USB from going idle, check cables to see if the connections are loose/bad, and also check to see if you're plugged into an outlet that doesn't have too many things plugged in (could be causing power fluctuation to printer that could cause a reboot).

If you are using USB then turn off all power saving features in the OS that relate to the USB port and hubs. If not then unplug the cable, no need for it.

If using the SD card then make sure to give it ample time to build and write the files. Even when S3D says it is finished don't believe it!! I usually send it to write the file and walk away and come back in a little later.

Those would be the most common suggestions.

Outside of that then you will need to see if there is something common to each model when it stops. Is it at the same height or something like that that could be a mechanical issue?

I know this might be obvious.....but if you have a cable connecting your printer to your PC then why are you using an SD card?

Or even simpler......unplug the USB cable and try printing from SD card again.

Re: Printing stops before part is complete

Not sure if you figured out your problem yet... but never print any parts over usb. It's fine for small prints, but any pc reboots, freezes, loss of communication will result in a print stopping. I always print via SD card, and don't even bother having the usb connected anymore. Even still I had the same issue and couldn't figure it out until I began having layer shifts... Turns out I had a stepper motor cable go bad, and apparently the shock of it connecting/disconnecting would stop the print. If you happen to ever have any layer shifts, pay attention to which axis it's on, and replace that stepper motor wire
