[SOLVED] Version 4 doesn't start in 32bit windows.

Hi,

I have uninstall the old 3.11 and install the new version 4.0.

When I try to start the program I get an error: "The program cannot start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll is missing from the computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".

I have uninstall and reinstall and happens the same.
The previous version was working OK.

Any advice?

Wow, you're on 32-bit Windows? Is it an old computer?

You might want to check and make sure the machine is up-to-date with the latest patches. If you're still having problems, I'd probably send an email to their support team.

Well the previous version was working without any problem.

The problem is that I have uninstall it so now I have nothing to work with.

Any way to download the previous version (3.11?)?

You need to update the universal C runtime from windows update.

I have manage to sort it out myself.

Just in case that someone else has the same problem:

The laptop was running windows 7 32bit.

The problem was with the new installation of the redistributable C++.

There is no indication from the S3D that it doesn't install correct.

But if you go and try and install it separate you can see that there is an error that is logged during the installation

The solution was to update windows INCLUDING THE RECOMMENDED UPDATES (NOT ONLY THE URGENT).

after that I have uninstall and reinstall S3D and everything works.

surely easier to just install c++
No way am i installing windows updates - easiest way to totally bugger up your computer, not to mention the sneaky backdoor windows 10 installation. Man that is one abortion of an operating system.

And 32 bit windows 7 is generally faster, more stable and more compatible with older software than the 64 bit versions.

Also as has been mentioned every other version of simplify3d has installed and worked great on 32 bit windows 7.
Until s3d stop supporting it, I see no reason to change

The problem is that when you go to install c++ (even on its own) you get an error.
So the problem is that the new (2015) c++ that needs the version S3D V4 doesn't install if you haven't update windows.
So you cannot avoid updating windows.

The previous version (3.1.1) was using a previous version of c++ that was installing without the windows updates.

So it look like that there is no way around it.
