[ADDED] Ignore solid layers dividing multiple processes

It would be great to have more options for top & bottom solid layers, especially when printing multiple processes on one object.
For example, having the choice to NOT have any solid layers print at the start or end of a process. Sometimes having solid layers printing in the middle of an object creates a visible seam. It would make more sense to have 4 types of solid surfaces:

So it would be nice, when having multiple processes, to ignore the top & bottom surfaces setting at the start and end of a process without effecting the top & bottom surface settings for the rest of the part.

Maybe this could be an option that you would click in the multiple process popup before preparing to print.

Printing top & bottom solid surfaces between processes is rarely needed if at all. Would be great to see this option. Would make printing with multiple processes much easier.

Re: Ignore top & bottom solid layers dividing multiple proce

Jon, I haven't tried this myself so I'm just asking. Does zero as a number of solid layers for top/bottom work in the program, or does it need at least 1?

Zero is valid.......and threads & tutorials describing multiple profiles do go through setting top & bottom layers to zero.

What the original poster is suggesting as a new feature is for somehow not setting top/bottom layers to zero and for the interface between profiles to not have the top/bottom layers. Working this way, should there be a horizontal top or bottom face forming the outside of the shape, then it has top/bottom layers to make it solid.

Re: Ignore top & bottom solid layers dividing multiple proce

Yes, basically being able to have zero top & bottom surfaces created in between processes without effecting the top & bottom surfaces that are already part of the model.

Would also be nice if first layer start height, cooling and temperature settings were ignored also in between processes. It's a pain to have to change the temp, first layer height and cooling assignments for a seamless transition between processes.

First layer settings should only be for the very first layer touching the build plate, not the first layer for each process. That would be ideal. :)

So basically, only apply first layer settings if the print start & stop points are not specified (left unchecked) in the Advanced tab.

Re: Ignore top & bottom solid layers dividing multiple proce

This suggestion has not been implemented in Version 4.0. When you have multiple processes for a single model, the software no longer adds solid layers at that intersection. Now the print will continue seamlessly into the next process without spending extra time and material on solid layers.
