prime pillar speed?

Hi,

I mainly use s3d for custom support and dual extruder setups for my custom 3d printer. What I can't take it is the fact that the speed to change the prime pillar printing speed. I tried to change the modifier script to change the speed by "{replacement}" thingy but it takes too long time to print because some part of the object needs to be very slow and prime pillar also goes slow due to the main object's speed.

Printing a 3d benchy with a single nozzle only took me about 1-2 hours. but on dual nozzle it took me 10 hours roughly (only 1 printed) with pla.

Any way to speed up the prime pillar

Re: prime pillar speed?

There is already a prime pillar "speed multiplier" on the Additions tab that you can adjust

Re: prime pillar speed?

I didn't change the prime pillar speed multiplier so it should be on the default value which is 100%.

What if i were to print a very small object which is a dual colour charmander, which certain parts needs to be very slow, and the prime pillar will be affected by the printing speed to. The default speed is around 40mm/s, slows down for small parts is 15mm/s.

Upon slowing down, prime pillar speed will go down as well to 15mm/s. If i were to change the prime pillar speed to 400% to achieve roughly 45mm/s, then printing the prime pillar will resulting in too fast at about 160mm/s when reaching parts that on the default print speed at 40mm/s

My question was actually, is there a way that the prime pillar's speed not chained to the object's print speed reduction for cooling?

Re: prime pillar speed?

You want it to print slower when there are smaller layers, since that's important for making sure the layers print well.

But if for some reason you don't want that to happen, just click on the Speeds tab and disable the "adjust printing speed for layers below X seconds" option.

Re: prime pillar speed?

Yes, I want to print slower in smaller layers of the object itself but not the prime pillar itself, I was asking if there are anything that be changed so the prime pillar will stay with 40mm/s while main object's printing speed varies

Re: prime pillar speed?

No, I don't think you can make one constant speed and have the other use a changing speed. Again, by default, it prints smaller layers slower to help them stick together, so if you disabled that for some parts of the layer, those would just break apart. So you have to adjust the entire layer together.
