I have been thinking about either getting a filastruder or build something my self. What is the tolerances on the extruded filament?
Have you extruded PLA on the filastruder, and is it harder to keep the tolerances with PLA?

These are from a rostockMax, .3mm layer height @ 2000mm/min no suck/wipe.
As for the filastruder I'm loving it. tolerances are very dependent on the environment you are extruding in. The kit is very robust and maintains a constant temp at the hot end.
Nozzle temp, nozzle height from the floor, drafts, moisture, and many more affect how your filament will extrude and what its tolerances would be.
I'm running a e3d 1.75 bowden hotend so as long as my filament does not go bigger then 1.8 (physical printer characteristics) i can make minor adjustments for undersized filament in slicer software.

Finally I thought I would put my new ToyBuilderLabs Glow-In-the-Dark PLA to test! You really start crossing your fingers towards the end of a 32 hour print, especially when the filament is $50 a roll!
I had previously printed a small version but it has been confiscated by my 18 month old daughter!

I knew this was going to be a lengthy print so a couple hours in I decided to setup a time lapse video of the whole thing. I'm glad it all worked out, now I can share the fun with you guys. Watch for a cameo at around 25 seconds.

I didn't have time to remove it from the plate this morning but I will do that this evening and probably make a video so people who haven't worked with Simplify3D can see how nice the supports can be removed from the part. I'll also put it on Thingiverse with a Glowing shot!
