[SOLVED] Excess material on sharp corners

Using Flash forge creator pro and Simplify 4.00. With .4mm extruder and layer height at .2mm all of the small part being printed comes out fine except on some very sharp corners where there is excess material extruded and therefore the final layers show a lump higher at these sharp corners than the rest of the part. How do I control this?

I'm experiencing the same thing on a 20mm cube print everything is great sides are nice but the corner edges have fine bumps every few layers making
the edges some what uniform on all 4 edges Using creator pro also 4.0 nozzle 1.75mm filament (done the same print in Flash print and all is good edges are
great sides great any ideas you guys. Thank you Kevin

Re: Excess material on sharp corners

I bet those "bumps" line up with the thread on the lead screw driving the table on your printer! In which case you probably have a hardware issue to resolve.

Thanks dkightley , if it were a hardware issue why do the prints done in Flash print come out perfect?

Re: Excess material on sharp corners

Hi i read another post about speed issues with outer layer - so i did this, not tried all separate but will do soon
Start point - third option (choose start point left at 0 0
outline direction outside in
speed - Outline under speed to 40%
and all looked good now
Thanks hope this will help others

Re: [SOLVED] Excess material on sharp corners

Just want to confirm that outside in on outer parims helps. I think it is the faster inside line that overshoots the corner so when the outer line comes around it has to either overlap or get pushed out. My thought is that after a few layers it finally is off enough to get pushed out the side. As always things are a trade, the outside in may change things such as overhang performance.

It probably is an indicator of how much flex your printer has as it tries to corner sharply and the weight of the head/print pushes and pulls. I will keep this all in mind as I look at upgrading to the full bear on my MK3 and try out the klipper firmware which handles speed and direction changes in a much smoother way.

Re: [SOLVED] Excess material on sharp corners

also check your linear advance setting. on my i3 mk3 slic3r sets filament specific gcode to tune the firmware to better manage extruder pressure. I ported this to my s3d profile and am getting much more consistent results now.
