Copying a group does no copy as group

One annoyance is the ability to not copy groups.
see attached. So I have a group 3 parts with many processes.
If I copy the group and paste it, or even just say duplicated, it will will copy them as 3 separate items not grouped.

Yes I can regroup them after the copy but it can get very tedious to fix when there are a few part to each group and you make 48 copies. 3parts with 48 copy becomes 144 items you must regroup together before then can be arranged.

To select items for grouping you can use in the ModelsWindow (left upper side) :

select the first item above
press Ctrl + Shift
click to the last item below

that marks the items between them as selected and then you can check on in menue Group Selection (Ctrl + G)
With only pressing Shift or Ctrl you can attache skipped items or unselect them.

I hope it helps a little bit.

Re: Copying a group does no copy as group

yep I do use the shortcuts. The main problem is when I have the 3 Part Grouped Object and it is copied it does not stay grouped. I then have to select 3 items at a time and group them before they can be arranged.

I would assume if I select a group and copy it it would stay as a group.
The way it works now does not make any sense. It would be like copying and object is a CAD program and it breaks it apart into individual faces which would then have to combine back together after the copy.

Yes, I see it, you are right, but this does not help at the moment.

Yesterday I had printed also group wise. The first group I had arranged ready to print, then <Edit> <Select all> and <Group Selected> (not really needed). The grouped / selected items I duplicated 5 times so that there were 6 sets of the print objects I needed.
The Copy-function works on the X-axis-direction, therefore the items must be arranged along the Y-axis.

To hold the Group-property would be a nice feature as a standard function when items are copied and when not needed there are only two mouseclicks to eliminate it - selective - .
