[FIXED] Very Large Parts Fail to Slice

I haven't previously had cause to print large parts (~500mm on a side), but now that I do I'm finding Simplify3D is having trouble consistently.

After clicking "Prepare to Print" it gets to where it says "Calculating Infill..." and then just hangs. The same behavior happens on several similarly sized parts of varying complexity.

Perhaps there's a way to optimize performance? I don't know. I'm running Debian 9 and one of the parts in question is attached.

I could try this from a beefier computer next week.

Re: Very Large Parts Fail to Slice

Are you on v4.0.1, or an earlier release??

v4.0.1 has documented improvements for slicing large files. Se the release notes.

Oh interesting. I'm on 4.0.0. I'll try upgrading tomorrow and try again.

What a difference a 0.0.1 version change makes. That fixed it, completely. Thank you.

Re: [FIXED] Very Large Parts Fail to Slice

I'm happy to confirm this issue was fixed in version 4.0.1 and remains fixed in 4.1.0. Our team successfully tested your file. The slicing no longer hangs at calculating infill. This was just one of many improvements to the software. All of which are detailed on our Release Notes page.

Thank you for your help reporting this issue!
