Zits look bad because they are random defects. Every injection-molded part has a seam and that is much less objectionable.

True, Kisslicer handles the seam much better though. I guess I would like to see that handled a bit better on simplify3d. How visible is you seam?

So this is odd. For the heck of it I printed at 100 microns layer height and it turned out flawless. No seam, no zits. I didn't grab a picture, I ended up having to pry it off my print bed because it was stuck. Ill get one next time though.

My seam is very hard to see on this part.

However, on some parts I have had a significant seam. Though it doesn't really bother me since it looks deliberate rather than random.

When I do see the seam it still looks very random. I can't get it to stay straight on anything but a square block.

have you tried since the update? you can locate the seam now to are area where you dont see it, a corner etc. i havent messed with that feature yet so i have no input but it is there.

Everything looks great since the new update. The seam is great (just as good as kisslicer). I am now officially making simplify3d my main and only slicer.

Hello there vinny1575, I am having the same problem as you did, could you please elaborate on how did you got it fixed? Also jimc mention a seam function somewhere in the new software, could you guys point out where would I find this settings? Thank you.

you can gather the seam at one place in the model. in the layer tab choose "choose start point closest to location". it can be difficult to figure out exactly what the coords are where you need the seam so i modeled a 1mm dia x 10mm tall cylinder. i saved it as an stl and just called it "drop pin". when i need the seam in a specific location i will drop the pin on the table then drag it right where i want the seam. then i double click on it and read the coords of the pin. enter the coords into the process and remove the drop pin.
