Failed to parse ... factory file

I got a "failed to parse ..." error message when trying to open a factory file I saved yesterday.

The error message states incorrect XML code.
When opeing the factory-file with an editor it is no XML but some binary code.
So the XML problem must be some other file the factory file is refering to.
But such a file would have been in the game yesterday already before saving the factory file when everything worked fine. Why would S3d be able to handle that file yesterday and fail today?

I mean, I just want to save all settings so that I can continue work at exactly the same point after switching to an from another project with different printer and filaments.

S3d saves a file and then cannot read it again?
I'm not amused.

Same problem here.
Using the newest mac version (4.0.1) and no "special characters" inside the configuration/ scripts as i read somewhere else (by the way, "special characters" should be quoted if they are stored).
Is there another solution/ a fix for that?
