Software crash when saving

Hello!

I´m from Austria with german as motherlanguage. So excuse me Language problems.

I have the software since 3 days. I spent much time to unterstand it. Normally i´m good in understanding software (technical engineer with program experience).

All problems i had with printing i found the solution.
But there is still one Problem.

When i want to save a factory file (save or save as), the software crash and the file is in the directory, but it´s empty.
After restart the software - this is also empty. So all work is gone.
I found something. This happens only after using once or more the "prepare to print" function.
Before i had never this error.

I tried much. (Language - because use german.....).
I reseted the software, i uninstalled the software with deleting everything. But not all was deleted because after re-install the software loaded the last settings! But i don´t think that it will help if i delete all registry entries or any other files.

I searched in the community but didn´t find something.

I have Windows 7-32 with the latest release of SF3D. 4.0.1

Maybe you have a solution for me!

Regards!

Re: Software crash when saving

It's going to be hard for anyone to help you unless you provide a more reproducible way for others to recreate the issue. For example, can you describe the exact steps you are taking? Can you attach the STL file or the FFF profile that you are using?

If you provide more detail, others will be better able to help!

Re: Software crash when saving

I thougt i had explained it. But i will write it step by step.

- deinstall the software with delete Options.
- install the software and open (so all is standard!)
- import a stl model created with sketchup 2015, it doesn´t matter which one (maybe i should download a file which is not created by me)
- create a FFF and choose a profile, it doesn't matter which one
- save factory file, all is ok, more times
- i can close the software, can open it and all is the same
- if i "prepare to print" it seems all normally, no crash
- After using "prepare to print" the software crash when i "save" factory file, "save as" or "close" the software
- when i open the software after crash, all is empty (no loaded FFF and no model).
- if i want to load now the factory file i saved before, the file is also empty , so all work is lost. So it looks like the software destroy the factory file at crashing.

At the moment i save the factory file with different names to have one ofter crash.

Re: Software crash when saving

Now i downloded a stl from thingiverse.
Still the same.

Software crash after using "prepare to print" once, when "save as" factory file.

Re: Software crash when saving

Support told me i should download the installer again.

I did this an installed again.

Now it´s working fine, and i´m happy.

Re: Software crash when saving

I was wrong.
The software is always crashing when saving factory file and i didn´t find the reason.
So i can´t work. :-(

Re: Software crash when saving

Hi,

the crashing is really curious. I had never such a crash (Win 7-64, S3D versions 1.x up to 4.0.1)

I attache 2 factory files, just stored at the moment before and after Prepare to Print.
You can test it out if it crashs.

Re: Software crash when saving

I'm a little bit confused but about the chronology of MS Windows

Is it right Win 7 > Win Vista > Win 8 > Win 10 or not ???

Is that new

https://www.simplify3d.com/software/tec ... fications/
Supported Platforms
Windows
Windows Vista or later
Both 32 and 64-bit installers are available

No. Its Vista > Win 7 > Win 8 > Win 10
