Solid and hollow side by side. how to?

All,
Sorry if Im just missing some easy to see picture.
how does one print / designed to print an object thats both hollow and solid.
As an example.
Say I wanted to pint a cube. that one half is solid and the other half hollow.

I know in a standard cube I can select the walls thickness and fill. density..
also If I had a the same cube only designed with an inner wall as a divider.
still I cannot do one half and or the other. again this is just an example

Print two half-cubes using two processes. A solid process on one half and a hollow process on the other. Have them aligned on the platform so they will merge when printed. The seam between the two will be visible in the print.

Thanks for the solution. But perhaps my example was too simple. it was suppose to be an ideal example to solve
more complex shapes.
What about complex objects? that frankly don't allow for sided by side printing.

model it the way you want it printed.

you have to split the object during design in multiple objects, export then as stl with multiple shells, then in s3d split shells to objects; the objects will stay where they are and then you can select different process for each object... or you can export as different objects and load them into s3d .. in any way it has to be done during design stage, for already designed pieces we have to hope s3d will sometimes in future enable mesh modifiers

I think I get some of this process. until you said S3d split into shells.
I don't see anywhere in my s3d to do that.

Scratch that. I just visited the link you sent. that explained It all. thanks so much for the reply and link. it was the most useful!
If s3d did this natively it would be even that more awesome.

Okay all,
I just generated a 10mm cube, and inside of that cube a 5mm cube.
I imported the stl's respectively.
in S3d. I created2 process's on the larger cube I said print solid.
and the inner cube I said print hollow with 1 cutter layer.
results?
a single solid cube.

If I do the reverse it comes out as expected. so looks like a feature S3d needs to get up to speed with eh?
OR the user has to get even more creative with their drawings. many of which are quite complicated. and would result
in perhaps not being able to print.

Make ONE solid model that represents the part you want to have printed. I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish with two separate STL files.

let me try to say it even simpler.

A user should / could be able to print a model of any shape size or complexity.
that incorporates not only the features S3D offers.
TO include " the ability to have some of the model SOLID and OR Hollow simultaneously."

Simple as that.

I could offer more examples. and Im sure people would offer a work around. but Im not looking for a work around for a specific model.
Im looking to be able to do just that.

Solid and hollow.
just like Wall thickness and fill density. is a configurable option.

I think part of the challenge is.
when a part is designed its "Air Tight"
the with Wall thickness and fill density you print as needed. (this is a limitation imho)

The challenge is how do you differenciate areas that need to be solid? vs areas that need to be hollow of some variation.
sounds simple. apparently its not.

try this, should be simple to figure out afterwards :D

for e.g. get this STL: https://www.thingiverse.com/download:1550926

load into S3D (notice if you slice it as it it will not work ok!!! this is multishell STL)

now go to app menu "Mesh" and select "Separate connected surfaces" (will take few seconds or few minutes depends on your cpu power)

instead of one model in the models window you will now have five!

you can click on the box left from the name to turn it on/off to see what model is what

now create separate process for each part:
1. create 5 processes with different infill
2. on each process click on "select models" and select different model for each process

now slice and preview
