Weird mirrored features on interiors

I've been seeing this occasionally when I have an embossed feature either on top or on bottom of my part. The non-perimeter infill of the embossed features are duplicated for a few layers on the interior of the part even when there's a solid layers in between.

In this case after a solid bridge over the gaps, three little parts are not filled in the next 3 solid layers. What's going on?

Re: Weird mirrored features on interiors

I'll take a total stab in the dark as I'm not really sure what your issue is...and the screen print shows absolutely nothing wrong!

My guess is that the embossing is added in the CAD process as separate "objects"....and the result is that the stl file contains multiple meshes. This is easy to sort out by using the "Separate Connected Surfaces" option on the Mesh dropdown.

If I'm right, you'll see one or more items appear in the Models list. And you'll then see a difference in the sliced file!

Still can't see anything unusual.......other than the fact that there seems to be an attachment missing!!!!

If you really want some help, then you're going to have to provide details of what you want help on!!!!

This forums anti spam system must be limiting me to one attachment. Here's the last one.
You can see the next solid layer leaves gaps above the eyes for some reason. It does this on the next 3 layers until the solid infill covers everything up.

Layers 93 and 94 are like this

Re: Weird mirrored features on interiors

Then 95,96,97 are solid. The actual embossed feature isn't until layer 98

Re: Weird mirrored features on interiors

There must be an issue with the mesh of the model. The bridging layer (the yellow!) should break where the eye feature is...and its not doing so. The solid layer is also not sensing that the feature exists.

I think you need to run your model through one of the online shape repair services.....

You could try using the Separate Connected Surfaces option on the Mesh menu....and see if that has any effect.
