Makerbot 2x + Titan Aqua extruder speeds

Hello,

I have a Makerbot Replicator 2x with a custom E3D Titan Aqua extruder. All the mechanical / electrical components are fullly sorted, however I am having trouble with the extruder speeds.

I need to compensate for the 3:1 geared Titan extruder (vs stock 1:1 direct extruder) in the following areas:

1. Manual extrusion / loading of filament
2. During the actual print

Question : How to I increase the speed 3x to compensate for my geared extruder? I tried using the "extrusion multiplier" but that doesn't seem to do anything.

You probably want to change the extruder steps/mm setting in your firmware

I have tried to edit the extruder speeds using ReplicatorG / Sailfish, however there doesn't appear to be a way to do this permanently. The machine control panel does allow temporary manual overide and this achieves faster extruder motor speeds. But that only works when directly connected and manually jogging / extruding.

It appears all the motor speed changes are done by the slicer / Gcode generator (such as Skienforge). So I would need to do this in Simply3D somehow.

If anyone has other suggestions on ways to adjust the extruder speeds I would welcome them

You can also adjust extruder steps/mm by going to Tools > Firmware Configuration, clicking on the X3G tab, and then making your changes there. Once you are done, be sure to Export the new .frm file using the button at the top. Then exit that window, click Edit Process Settings, go to the G-Code tab, and make sure you select the new firmware configuration option in the "update firmware" section. Click Update Profile so that this profile will always use the new firmware configuration you just made (there's a video about this process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYPUAqT4UyI)
