can't delete all support structures on a model

Before you say just uncheck "Generate Support", here is the issue (for example)...

I have two models I want to print at the same time. I need supports on one, but none on the other. I figured I'd just go into "customize Supports" and remove the supports from the model I don't want them on. The problem is, if I do that, hit ok, then slice, the supports generate anyway. I can customize and they stick, except if I remove all the structures from a model, in which case they are created anyway. I can generate then remove all but one column, then the edit sticks, but as soon as I remove that last one, they all come back (for that model).

Not sure if it's a bug or by design, but I see the need to be able to remove all supports from a model while leaving supports for others in the same pass. If not a bug, then consider it a request.

Have you tried using a second process? https://www.simplify3d.com/support/arti ... -printing/

You can select which models get printed with your process. Uncheck the model you don't wish to have supports on in the process that has supports enabled. Then in another process select that model for printing and make sure supports are off.

As an alternative, clear the supports and then add one single manual support element at some point where the generated support will have no effect on the finished part. This will prevent support from being generated elsewhere. I have to do this on odd occasions where I need support on one part and not on another.

Thanks. I got by with exporting the selection of models as a single STL once laid out on the platform the way I wanted, then I just brought that back in as one mesh. I'll check into the process per model idea, had no idea you could do that, and that would solve the problem (and others too). I need to look around the site more...
