Printing Overhang in Space

I am having trouble slicing a part with a groove in it. On the layer that begins the overhang, he tool path wants to print the perimeters out in space which naturally won't work. Has anyone experienced this before who might know a solution? I was hoping S3D would detect this and start printing from the inside out.

It doesn't look to me like you have supports enabled. S3D doesn't warn you if you aren't using supports and should be. Even if you start from the inside on that print I don't think you'll get good results unless there is something to print on (supports).

Thanks for the reply. I was just surprised that even without supports it wouldn't try to print from the inside out. I don't believe there is an option for that anyway (still learning :))

Re: Printing Overhang in Space

I think it does print the shells from the inside out by default, but it looks to me like you only have a couple shells so your inner most shell is still in space anyway.
