I have the Diamond full color nozzle (5 in 1 out) and I'm trying to get it dialed in. I do not do mixing, just print one color at a time. One of my biggest issues right now is color bleed where yellow will be in with black and I'll get a shade of green instead of solid black or yellow. What I've figure out is that the tool change retract needs to be upward of 6 mm to not cause horrible stringing. The problem with that is I now have 4-5 mm of empty space up in that nozzle area and the next color to print fills that space. The next time it prints it not only has to clear what is in the small .4 mm tip of the nozzle but also what is in the 4-5 mm space that filled up with a second color. So now it is pushing black out but it is also mixing with the yellow that filled the empty space and I have to push 2-3 times the normal amount to clear it, or most of it. I've tried an ooze shield and while it is ok sometimes it does not have enough time to clear the nozzle. It can take 2-3 times the required filament on smaller jobs so my waste is 2/3 of the total used. If I turn tool change retract off or really low I get great colors and not much loss, but I also have a huge amount of ooze and stringing at tool change. I tried using wipe and coast but those only work on the outer wall before the infill and I need this thing to coast and/or wipe at the end of the infill right before the tool change.
What is a good solution for reducing ooze on tool change that will not require a huge retract or a huge ooze shield or prime tower?
