Print Preview Bug

I posted this on the General Discussion page but, after testing in Slic3r, I believe it's a Simplify3d Print Preview BUG so, I'm posting a link to my post on the Discussion page
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11449

It looks and prints correctly in Slic3r.
It prints correctly in Simplify, too.
But, the Print Preview in Simplify is NOT correct.

Re: Print Preview Bug

Maybe the offsets you added don't affect the positioning of the platform image, it is just a picture, and it is still in what it assumes is the correct position.

That's why I consider this a BUG

Re: Print Preview Bug

I don't really see why it is a "bug". You are adding an offset to the default printer setup in the slicer to get the part where you want it on the physical printer, which is modified from original.

I might want to add an offset on the X axis so my prints always avoid a bad area on my bed. That doesn't mean I want the bed position to change also.

The offset is moving the part in relation to the bed and not moving the bed.
You may be able to take the default bed image S3D is using and modify its position.
Maybe you can enter offsets into the firmware to compensate for the modification rather than in S3D.

Re: Print Preview Bug

I've been programming (all languages) since 1979 and It seems to me that if a $150 program has two graphics, one showing a part correctly and the other showing it not correctly placed, it's a BUG (or a shortcoming of the app that makes that aspect (Print Preview) useless. May as well remove it from the app.
Slic3r's print preview shows it correctly.

I don't want to fool around compensating for a program's bug/shortcoming that I paid good money for.

Re: Print Preview Bug

I am also experiencing this issue.

Steps to reproduce:
  • "Origin offset"s X, Y and Z bellow "Build volume" in the "Update Machine Definition" section of the "G-Code" tab set to 0
  • In the same tab on section "Global G-Code Offsets" set offset X, Y to 99
  • Add a model and click prepare to print
  • Build table is displayed in diferent places.
Independently of machine dimension definitions, the build table should be in the same position in both views.
Seems to me the bug is g code preview bound.
