Communication log written to file?

Is the communication log written to a file anywhere? If so I have not found it. This would be very helpful in several respects:

1. Sometimes when things go wrong the log scrolls by really fast in the window, and it is not possible to go back far enough to find the problem.

2. If the log were written to a file then we could use scripts to watch the log during or after the job and perform advanced automation outside of Simplify3D to compensate for features that do not exist yet:

- Notify me by text etc. when the the print is done
- Notify me when a certain layer is reached
- Notify me of certain errors
- Collect time statistics

Please let me know where it is written, or if there is a switch to turn it on, or if there is a STDOUT redirect I can turn on (I'm on Mac). If none of these exist I'll paste this into the feature request section.

Re: Communication log written to file?

If I can detect when the print job is done, I could use IFTTT or other API to send a power-off command to the smart plug that powers the printer.
