I am trying to print PETG with my Raptor 2. It did fine with NylonX. After switching to the PETG and adjusting the temps and speeds, things went downhill fast!
The first layer has no problems. It comes out flawless. Starting with the 2nd layer, the extruder is doing a retraction by a tiny amount. It's not a skipped step by the extruder motor though. I marked the end of the extruder gear with a fine point sharpie and watched the extruder specifically retract. It seems to be doing it at odd intervals. The longer it prints, the more often it retracts. Needless to say this is like hitting a brick wall.
I tried adjusting temps anywhere from 230 - 250 C. I tried reducing my speeds all the way down to a default print speed of 20mm/sec. I even tore the hotend apart to check for clogs and found nothing wrong. I've tried changing the wipe and coast settings from on to off and every possible combination of those two settings. Nothing seems to work.
Here is a photo I took of the last failure. This was just before the second layer finished. If you look at the outer perimeter it almost seems like the retraction is happening at a set interval. That makes no sense since I've tried setting the wipe distance to 0.1 and those gaps still happen regardless.
Any insights are greatly valued!
