ULTRA THIN INFILL !!!! This keeps clogging my nozzle.

I can seem to figure out the setting to stop it from doing this really think infill with overlap that clogs the nozzle destroys the print.

I can get around it by adding more perimeters, but this seems like something that I am probably missing in the settings.

The slizer keeps cramming infill where there is not space for anything. I dont want a single thin extrusion, just leave it empty. But I need the inifll in another layer higher up. I dont want to add process by layer b/c that is added workflow everytime I need to print pipes like this.

It feels like a bug b/c there is clearly no space for infill in the second pic with the red arrow.

please advise.

Re: ULTRA THIN INFILL !!!! This keeps clogging my nozzle.

Thank you for the images and Factory File!

This over-extrusion is happening because you currently have the Outline Overlap in the Infill tab set to 80%. This means that the infill will overlap 80% of the perimeter and this can definitely cause over-extrusion if your printer is well calibrated.

Most of our default profiles use a value around 20% which should be more than enough. Please try a value around there.

Okay that does work. TY. I was doing that originally to force bridging onto the perimeters more, but I see that is no longer need, an update may have fixed that issue. All good now though.

Next issue is the perimeters on layer 6: the 3rd perimeters overlap too much as well. Also clogging my printer.

Further up in the layer stack at layer 20 the inner perimetr walls 4 are so overlapped that they are almost imperecpatble as 2 lines....but they are and again clogging my printer.

In the Advanced Tab of the Process Settings you have your Perimeter Overlap set to 100%. This means the Perimeters will be allowed to overlap one another completely. If your printer is well calibrated this can definitely cause some over-extrusion in areas. Our default values are usually around 10% so I would suggest using a number around there.

I set it to 0% and the overlap at layer 20 is still there. It does remove the other overlaps though which is good. I am not sure why that layer at level 20 is so finnicky.

If I "allow single extruion fill" for internal thin wall type then it disappears and is fine, but on "perimeters only" setting it still over extruding @layer 20

Re: ULTRA THIN INFILL !!!! This keeps clogging my nozzle.

When using Perimeters Only the software will do the best job it can to fit in the specified number of extrusions but if the width of your part is not evenly divisible by your extrusion width then there is no way these will fit perfectly. This is why the Gap Fill and Internal Single Extrusions options exist.

I understand that S3D is taking the width and dividing it by an integer to get a fraction. I thought that the left over fraction should be used against the 10% (if it set to that) allowed perimeter overlap and if its over that number then reject that perimeter and leave a gap. Force filling it is clogging my printer so based on the logic above it seemed like I was missing a check box or something.

To me this now seems like a bug and not an option I have toggled wrong.
Would telling it to gap fill at with a 0% width gap setting work?
Would that leave a gap in that will instead of trying to fill it solid?

For conversation'a sake (bc I think that is just how she goes now so no point in beating a dead horse)
1. S3D knows that the lines laid by the print head are 1.0mm wide.
2. I tell it to do 5 perimeter walls with 0% overlap.
3. I get to slice a wall 9.5mm wide.
4. It starts slicing and finds that the 4 out of 5 of the perimeter walls are fine
5. The 5th perimeter wall is showing an overlap with another 5th perimeter wall of 50%
6. It compares to the setting of 0% and boolean says false now.
7. Rejects wall and checks the gap fill or perimeter settings and finds no gap nor single fill extrusion so again boolean false.
8. if( false || false || false) {
return;}

But at step 8 you are telling em S3D ignores all settings and forces a wall in there?
There is no option for me other than use gap fill (which is so small that it takes a painfully long amount of time to fill) or to use single extrusion (which also seems to ignore the overlap and eventually force feeds an area to small to fill?
I feel like I am missing a toggle or setting still.

Thanks for all your help so far, its helped me big time. If I can get passed this last little issue its smooth sailing again. :D

Re: ULTRA THIN INFILL !!!! This keeps clogging my nozzle.

Could you post an updated Factory File showing the perimeter being shoved in as you describe? When I attempted to match your settings I found that the software was not putting in an "extra" perimeter but instead leaving a gap as should be done.
