Hello! I have an Ultimaker 3 with dual extruders and am using Simplify3D 4.1.2 on macOS 10.14.5 (Mojave) .
I have been using Cura up to this point but am trying to switch over to Simplify3D. I am currently trying to print this model:
https://www.thingiverse.com/make:674652
That is my make on the same printer using Cura. I am trying to reproduce the same results using Simplify3D but for some reason I am unable to get it to slice the horizontal bands. I suspect it is because they are "floating" from a z height perspective but I don't know for sure.
Reproduction steps:
I am using the stock Ultimaker 3 configuration, with modifications to the Tool 1 temperature and print speed because of the material I am using. I import the 5 models and I see this:
I then use the dual extrusion wizard and it groups everything up perfectly:
However, when I slice the models and view the layer preview, the horizontal pieces do not show up:
I thought maybe it was an issue with the machine setup, but if I swap the models between Tool 0 and Tool 1 I get the same result.
Any ideas why the two horizontal models are not printing? The only thing that seems odd about them is that they are not in contact with the bed; they rely on the models being printed by the other tool to act as supports. However, that seems like a common scenario if you were using PVA as one of the materials, so I am at a loss. Any help would be very appreciated!
