Re: Feature Request: Non-planar layers

I agree this would be a great feature to add. Allow users to specify frequency and amplitude of the 3D wave form. The wave form amplitude could start at zero to ensure good first layer adhesion and then slowly increase to its max amplitude as the model is built. The amplitude could then decrease to ensure a clean top layer.

Non-planar layer printing

the easiest way to explain is to read this: https://hackaday.com/2016/07/27/3d-prin ... layer-fdm/

It will work with cartesian machines but is a system deltas were made for !

Also is there any chance of implementing delta print areas properly ?
At the moment I have to set a square build plate which is either smaller than my actual plate (because I have to set it as the largest cube that will fit on the circular bed) or much larger (when i set it to the actual circular cross section - which is then converted into a much larger rectangle).

So that's one thing that should be really easy - an option to correctly setup deltas.
And nonplaner layer printing - which would be something no other slicer properly implements. Though looking at the article, slic3r is pretty close to doing.

Re: Non-planar layers

This is a really interesting idea! The prints in the linked article look like it really helped in those cases. Thanks for bringing it to our team's attention. I'm curious, have any of you guys tried it out using the existing script for slic3r?
What types of objects did you print with it and how well did the prints turn out?

Re: Non-planar layers

Not quite the same as the first article but this is open source in Slic3r. I would love to see it in the next release of Simplfy3D!

Re: Non-planar layers

This "sounds" like a good idea...…..but I'm of the opinion that introduction of such a feature may be more trouble than its worth at the present time.

Why? Here's a good video on this subject....but sit up and take notice of the comments made at approx. 12:10.
