Some background. Current settings are:
Retraction Distance: 8mm
Extra Restart Distance -0.95mm
Wipe Nozzle/Wipe Distance 10.5/11.0mm
Endpoint Extension Distance 0.00mm
Only retract when crossing open spaces - UNchecked
Perform retraction during wipe movement - Checked
I need it to retract all the time otherwise being a bowden and pressure in the hotend it bleeds a blob when stopped. Hence using Wipe Nozzle also.
I'm on my 76th test. I've printed out 38 little tubes that I drew up splitting it for 2 processes so I can test 2 parameter combinations with each print. That's why Wipe Distance above is 10.5/11.0mm.
Now before anyone says retraction is too high, yes I agree it is high and I had been running at 7mm and started these tests at 5mm and worked up to 8mm in 0.5mm increments. In the past I found retraction less then 7mm would allow for clogs while printing. PITA
Current Extra Restart Distance was derived from testing in -0.05 increments in conjunction with various Retraction Distance settings.
I've pretty much gotten rid of the zits now I'm dealing with pin holes at the point where extruding starts and ends. Trying to determine if they're at the beginning or the end. Can't really see them with the naked eye but using a magnifier visor they are prominent.
So that all said, my question has to do with the Wipe Distance. I started at 5mm which S3D recommends and it's currently up to 11mm in 0.5mm increments. For all you that use Wipe Distance, is that considered high or in a normal range?
