Hello, I have a problem that really has me scratching my head. I just recently purchased simplified 3d. I love it but im having trouble figuring out what is going on with my printer. the first layer prints beautifully.after that it kind of seems like it is over extruding but not worried about that per say. not yet anyways. it prints okay until it gets to the top layers. it tends to leave gaps in the print. I have tried to adjust my print settings little by little and one by one. im not seeing a whole lot of change. here is what i have done so far and this is the fifth round of testing:
5.1- I removed coasting.
Results- inconclusive
5.2- I removed retraction.
Results- better in a sense. Now there is stringing, but that was expected. The gap is almost gone on the top of the model.
5.3- adjusted extrusion width from .48mm to .45mm
Results- gap almost completely filled in, but worse z seam..
5.4- adjusted extrusion width from .45mm to .40mm
Results- can’t quite tell any difference from 5.3
5.5- adjusted extrusion width from .40 to .35mm
Results- gap is back but better z seam.
5.6—adjusted allowed perimeter overlap from 12% to 20%
Results-gaps fractionally worse
attached are some pictures of my 5.1 print just to give you some idea of what i am talking about.
i am using, well for this experiment, hatchbox pla at 205°C print speed hasn't really effected anything either. my layer height is .2mm and my nozzle is .4mm brass. i have changed out my nozzle 4 times and no changes.
