STL geometry not respected?

Hi all,
while slicing an STL containing a capped hole, positioned at 45° compared to the bed, I noticed a strange result that lead to "flatting" the lower side of the hole.

Moreover it also emerged a strange solid infill near the inner perimeters that it seems to me correlated to this problem:

Do you have any idea about that slicing results?
Thank you!

Re: STL geometry not respected?

I don't think this has anything to do with the referenced thread....which relates to top and bottom multiple infill layers

I think this is an error in the stl that is causing S3D to create a solid fill across an open space.. I've seen this sort of thing before.

If you're on Win10, then load the stl into the Windows app 3DBuilder and the auto-repair on load feature will sort any shape errors out. Once loaded, save as a 3mf file...and load that file into S3D.

If you're not on Win10, then run the file through one of the online shape fixers, or use a repair program, etc.

Could you please post a Factory File for this so we can look into it further?

Re: STL geometry not respected?

The STL was suffering from "Self intersecting surfaces", once repaired everything went fine.
Thank you so much dkightley and Alex!

P.S. I also discovered that disabling "Merge all outlines […]" option often permit to pass over these kind of STL problems.
