select objects not to print

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out how to replicate my work flow in Cura where I'd load in all the files for a given project, arrange them one group at a time (with some off the build plate). And keep filling up the plates until I'm done. Trying to do that in Simplify3D still results in gcode for the off build plate objects still being generated. Is there a setting I can change so that it doesn't generate gcode for off build plate objects or more directly turn off trying to create gcode at all for selected objects?

Thanks!

Re: select objects not to print

I think the best way of trying to replicate what you are describing is to set up one profile for each group of items, ensuring you select the correct items in the Select Models dropdown in the profile setup window...name the profile so you know what the profile will print. Then, when you select the Prepare to Print, you can select the appropriate profiles to include in the print run.

Moving parts "off the build plate" has no effect on whether or not they are selected.

I think Doug's suggestion is the only approach that works. I've tried to uncheck the model in the main window and it does nothing when I go to slice. Fortunately, since you presumably won't be using the off-plate process for printing, the settings don't need to be kept up to date.

Here's a screenie of how I do it:

Five vans...five processes. If I want to print one van, I just select one process.....all vans, all processes.

It allows you to create a factory file for all components of a design. If you only want to print certain components, for example because you broke one during assembly, you can either delete the unwanted components or disable them in the manner described above. The danger in deleting the components is accidentally overwriting the factory file with the components missing.
