What is the best way to adjust for elephant compensation? In other software I have used in the past it is a single adjustment parameter and I was not able to find that in the software.
The printing "defect" called elephant's foot is simply where the first layer that is printed on the bed is printed with a bed to nozzle gap that is less than the specified layer thickness...resulting in the plastic being squeezed out forming a small bead outside the model side.
The solution is to increase the nozzle to bed gap on the first layer so that you get less of a squish. This can be dome by simply adjusting the Global-Z by a small amount and doing a test print. Repeat until the squish is minimised.....but beware the model not sticking to the bed...which is why the first layer was squished down in the first place.
If you're happy with the level of your bed, then I suggest not doing a bed level....doing so might end up with the bed being less level! Depending on the material you are printing, adjusting the bed temperature either up or down may help the first layer to stick better with the reduced squish.
@dkightley elephant foot is not always specific to bed nozzle gap and bed leveling.
@psyfor don't get stuck on the idea that its only the gap/leveling and nothing else causing your issue. Heat can play a big factor in the elephant foot issue.

The best way is to eliminate the problem, not compensate for it. Here are the top things you can do to eliminate elephant foot:
Level your bed and adjust your nozzle to bed gap
Reduce build plate temp and extruding temp
Improve cooling of your bottom layers
So this is simply not right. To have a optimum of bed adhesion you have to press the filament onto the bed. Which have to lead to the elephant foot.
Sure for some filaments you can adjust the first layer height but this does only works for some easy printing filaments.
