Last layer settings

Hi. I would need some help with last layer settings. We have started to print furniture (in vase mode) with help of our large ABB robot, and we have an issue with the thickness of the last layer, see picture above
It seems nozzle squeezes two layers together and the edge becomes extremely ugly.
Solution could be to skip last layer or change some settings
Would be incredibly grateful for the help.

Re: Last layer settings

Couple of options:
1) Change the layer height to be an even multiple of your part's height
2) Change the height of your part to be an even multiplier of your layer height

S3D is trying to make the part the correct height and will add a partial thickness layer if the top layer is greater than or equal to 1/2 your stated layer height. If the last layer is less than 1/2 the layer height then it will skip the last layer and your part will be shorter over-all.

Re: Last layer settings

Think about how "vase mode" works......then ask yourself the question!

Vase mode prints a spiral. When it gets to the top, there can only be one of two things the printer can do:
1) Stop printing dead.....thus leaving a visible step
or
2) Taper the top layer from full thickness to somewhere near zero thickness before stopping..... so there is not a step.

I know which way I would want it to finish the top off!

At a guess your printer may be over-extruding...which will possibly explain the results you describe.

btw In vase mode, there is not "layers" as in normal printing....so you can't miss out a layer.
