Scale part of object in one axis

Hey

I would like an option to scale part of object in one axis.

For example I have a part downloaded but it's length is to short for my needs. I would like to scale part that doesn't have for example holes for screws or joints in x axis to make it longer and keep other structural parts in original size.

Another example:
Let's say I have a robot arm. I want to make arm longer by scaling extension part and keep servo brackets as designed.

This sounds similar to how you would edit a parametric sketch in CAD software. 3D model files don't typically have enough information to make this feasible. I'll be documenting your request regardless of that assumption.
