Does the new version have a measuring tool?

Hello. I'm very new to 3D printing and I've been using Matter Control. But one thing it's missing is a tool to measure the space between objects. If I'm designing something that I'd like to fit within mm's, I have to print several items before I get the fit correct.

Does Simplify3D have a feature that will measure between objects, walls or even holes to make sure you have the correct fit before printing?

Thank you.

There are too many variables outside the control of the slicer to make a feature like that workable, IMHO. The elastic properties of the material as it is being extruded, temperatures, machine dynamics, and more will impact the final fit between mating parts. The slicer would have to have an accurate nonlinear model of the machine, process, and the exact material to be able to predict final dimensions with any level of accuracy.

This is how I measure. Change the grid size to 1 mm. Now to measure say a tapered vertical column on the surface of an object I change the Z position with a negative number until the base of the taper is at the bed level. Now by zooming in I can count the 1 mm graticular across the base. If necessary I will move the x position to one of the grid lines. Now I will change the Z position with more negative dimensions until the top of the taper is at the bed level. Now I can measure the top dimension by counting the grid lines again if necessary move the x position to one edge.
So you can measure any dimension simply by rolling the object over and moving the object up or down using the Z position then count the grids.
When you have finished reset the object by clicking on Center and Arrange.
P.S. Change the grid size using Tools/Options/3D View and Minor Grid Line Spacing. Even to 0.01 of a millimeter.
