See bug: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=14853
for a similar issue as it pertains to supports.
The issue:
Let's say we have a square cylinder, 10mm on a side and 100mm long. We set a 20% infill with -60 and 60 as our infill angles. The orientation of the object is laying on it's side. One might assume that the algo for infill would look at the the shape of the part, and balance the infill in the open space. It does not. Instead, imagine that the infill is already completely covering the bed, and your part is setting in it. To get the desired structural effect of a balanced internal grid, you need to alter the objects placement on the bed. to align with the pre-existing infill. If you need to angle some parts on the bed to maximize how many objects can fit, this will alter the infill, and thus the mechanical properties of those parts.
Clearly this is ridiculous, and an obvious bug.
For paid software, this is unacceptable. I am very close to abandoning S3D, and I think if a new version that is significantly better than 4.1 does not come out soon, I probably will. But I have decided for now to be much more vocal in exposing the things that need to be fixed before I go to that extreme.
Gird your loins...
PS At least post updates about the new version - and teasers about what will be in it - unless there really isn't a new version, and you're just milking this for all it's worth... please, PROVE ME WRONG.
