Skipping 1st support layer???

I have looked at the layers 1 by 1 in preview mode and think layer 8 is where the support should start, but is instead doing only a wall which leaves open area and the next layer has nothing to attach to. Layer 7 finished the last base layer and 8 is starting the walls. I have attached a picture which also shows the print going outside the regular boundaries. The STL looked okay but maybe I missed something. This is the first time I have had an issue with printing anything.

wow, that's a quite long print at 45 hours. Have you considered printing this in another direction (bottom on the bed) and avoid support at all, is there a specific reason you'd like to print it like that?

If you attached a factory file (File -> Save Factory File as...) others can have a look at your settings/support options. But as far as I can tell from the gcode that's a very easy print when changing orientation.

Think I found the STL: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3416444/files
(Hint, line #2: "to print the case put it on the back as shown")

I'd print it that way, like suggested, avoiding supports completely:

That is a great idea. Wish I had thought of it. I will let you know.

Re: Skipping 1st support layer???

For future reference, this is caused by the Lower Vertical Separation Layers in the Support tab being set to 1. This prevents the supports from adhering too strongly to your part, but can be set to 0 to get the supports to print directly on the previous layer.
