HI,
I'm printing a model that is a shell. Occasionally I'm getting an extrude through open space that shouldn't be happening. This is not oozing, but an actual extrude. I've attached what I think are the pertinent files.
If you load the Gcode into S3D, you can see the extra extrudes on layers 40 and 113.
What is causing this?

correctly. Also there's non-manifold edges and intersecting surfaces. According to netfabb the model doesn't
have a closed surface and consists of 34 shells...
Do you have access to the sources, is it possible something's gone wrong when exporting to STL?
this may be caused by the model file itself. Inside S3D one can see pretty fast the normals aren't aligned
correctly. Also there's non-manifold edges and intersecting surfaces. According to netfabb the model doesn't

Is the attached what the shape file should be like???
Repaired by 3DBuilder....load into S3D as you would an .stl file.

The model is a purchased printable RC plane, so no source, just STL. They did provide some pre configured S3D files, but I didn't use those because they were missing some printer customization's I have. I was able to see that the pre configured S3S files don't have the issue.
I will see if I can find where the difference is.
For now, it seems to be just a setup issue.
@dknightley - the part is just a shell with some internal structure, what you provided is not correct. The model has been printing correctly except for the occasional intern run.

Try the Slicing Behavior settings on the advanced tab. Setting them to "discard" / uncheck "merge all outlines" the inner
extrusions disappear but there's some strange things going on in the outside walls...
Not sure, still it is a faulty model file. Paid models aren't free from some troubles, just recently someone else here hadFor now, it seems to be just a setup issue.

S3D v4.0.0 does behave a bit different, there's been some changes to the slicer engine/model handling. If you have access
to (or still have it installed) you might want to see how that works for you....
